Having crossed the USA by plane and over the Pacific Ocean, landing in the capital of what was once known as Siam, I had plenty of time to recover from reading-fatigue. Gone were the days when I had to read 500-1000 pages of dense academic material a week written by seemingly smart dudes that didn't have any clue how to write.

And since my recovery I've been reading many a novel! Thus enters Life of Pi into my list of all-time favorite books...which, surprise surprise! they will turn into a movie just like what they're planning to or have already done to half of the books on my list. My favorite part (**skip to the next paragraph if you don't want anything spoiled**) was when he was at that carnivorous algae island. Not only was the killer island really cool, but the meerkats were adorable, and they'd better damned be just as adorable in the movie as they were in my imagination. And yes, the coda at the end was nice.

I went to sing Karaoke with Capoeira buddies here in KL Malaysia and I ended up singing Alladin's A Whole New World duet. It's amazing in this globalized age that people half-way across the world could have grown up on the same stuff as we did when we were kids. All sorts of disney songs were reminisced upon.
